This one of my favourite metaphors to explain the crafty way that our thoughts create our beliefs, fears, and even our personality (yes, really!)

“You are a diamond, buried in horse crap, coated in nail polish.”

How knowing this can change everything

When I’ve described this to Happy Schoolers I’ve loved watching how it allows them to see that all of their insecurities and people pleasing behaviours were just thoughts. Just momentary thoughts!

And underneath all that illusory crap…? They’re perfect. Because we were all born perfect and we’re all a whole load of carats of perfect!

How I overcame my fears in about 0.2 seconds

I realised that my fears around planning travel and public speaking were just thoughts that I’d made up. Thoughts that were no more real than dreams. Thoughts that were no more permanent than daydreams.

And those fleeting, made-up thoughts had created the feelings of fear.

The moment that I saw those thoughts for what they were, they ceased to have power over me. The fear went.

A couple of weeks ago, I did both of these previously hated activities in one day – I planned a trip into London AND I gave a talk. BOOM!

Don’t just take my word for it

Supercoach Michael Neill talks about this is his usual awesomely effortless way in this video. Warning: it might change the way you think. :-)

It’s kind of a mind-f*ck, isn’t it? But in a glorious way.

Have you had an “Woah, really?!” realisation about your nail polish and horse crap? Please share it with me in the comments.

Love,
Lian xo
